Elizabeth Bilbrey's Obituary
Elizabeth Bilbrey
August 23rd, 1963 - February 25th, 2026
Our family pauses today to celebrate Elizabeth Bilbrey, a cherished daughter of Clyde and Naomi Jones, both now at rest. She carried their gentle spirit forward as a loving wife to the late Timothy Bilbrey and as a steady guide to her children.
Born in Nashville, Elizabeth spent her childhood on the family farm, where early mornings with horses and barn cats shaped a lifelong respect for every creature. That simple farm rhythm taught her to value patience, hard work, and kindness.
Her love for the land led her to Tennessee State University (TSU), where she cared for the grounds and earned a certificate in Agriculture. Before her career at TSU, she learned dedication working for Tennessee Department of Transportation in the construction department. She took pride in her jobs, and they kept her close to soil, plants, and open sky.
Gardens around her home bloomed under her careful hands, and wildlife organizations quietly benefited from her regular gifts. Whether planting a new bed of flowers or writing a donation check, Elizabeth chose action over words when it came to nurturing life.
She leaves her children Steven (Lisa) Scott, Terri Ann (Ed) Nutter, and Jason Scott, and dog Maya who will keep her stories alive. She is also remembered by her sisters Judy Jones, Sherry Jewell, and Carol Lee Banks; and joins in peace her late siblings Peggy Forsythe, Clara Jane Jones, Mike Jones, and Harold "Bubba" Jones.
May we honor Elizabeth by tending our own corners of the world with the same gentle care she showed every day.
