Elizabeth "Betty" Ragan's Obituary
Elizabeth “Betty” Ragan, 81, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home and comforted by the presence of her family and her beloved dog, Rudy, on December 2, 2024.
She was born on October 15, 1943, in Chester, Pennsylvania to William and Clodie McDowell. After the war effort ended, she and her family relocated to their home in Monticello, Kentucky. She was the youngest of five sisters and graduated from Monticello High School.
She met her husband, Jack Ragan, at the local dairy and raised her two children, Mike and Lisa. The family moved to Muncie, Indiana, to follow Jack’s career. She later moved to Somerset, Kentucky to be closer to family after her divorce. She worked as an administrative clerk for the Pulaski Co. Clerks office. She retired from that position after nearly 20 years, and relocated one last time to Nashville, to be close to her daughter, Lisa, and her family.
She was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She was a long-time member of the East End United Methodist Church where she met and fellowshipped with her church family and friends.
Betty was a fantastic cook, and she enjoyed sharing her talents in the kitchen with family and friends. Her Christmas tradition was baking snickerdoodle cookies to share.
