Ellis Owen Coggin's Obituary
Ellis Owen “E. O.” Coggin, 66, Madison, Tennessee, passed from this life on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Skyline Medical Center, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Sheffield, Alabama, he was the son of the late Clifford Gregory Coggin, Sr. and the late Grace Evelyn Jones Coggin. Mr. Coggin was also predeceased by his paternal grandparents, W. C. Coggin and Nora Gregory Coggin of Verona, MS, and maternal grandparents, Ellis W. Jones and Merlie Owen Jones of Jackson, TN. Mr. Coggin was a graduate of Camden Central High School and the University of Tennessee at Martin, and proudly served his country as a U. S. Marine during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Claims Adjuster with Allstate Insurance Company after 29 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 36 years, Sharon St. Charles Coggin, brothers, Gregory (Ann) Coggin of Chattanooga, TN, and Pete (Kathy) Coggin of Columbia, TN. Other survivors include the following nieces and nephew: Amy Coggin of Chattanooga, Jeanie (David) Ashley of Greensboro, GA, Kelly Coggin Clark of Spring Hill, TN, Kristin Coggin of Murfreesboro, TN, Patrick (Crystal) Coggin of Culleoka, TN, Lori (Rusty) Cooper of Triune, TN, together with several great nieces and nephews. In addition, Mr. Coggin leaves many treasured friends. A celebration of E.O.'s life will be conducted at 1 P.M., Saturday, November 3, 2012 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home.
