Elsie Brandon's Obituary
Elsie (Harvey) Brandon, age 101, of Hermitage, TN passed away February 1, 2013 at McKendree Village Nursing Home. She was lovingly cared for by McKendree staff for many years. Mrs. Brandon was a member of Gallatin Road Baptist Church/New Life Baptist Church; she attended Charlotte High School. She retired after 36 years from DuPont Testing Laboratory in Old Hickory, TN. Elsie loved to travel and was a proud collector of both postcards and spoons from 49 different states; she especially loved Gatlinburg and considered Opryland her second home. Sweets were her favorite food and Elsie never turned down anything containing chocolate. She also loved the many fun adventures shared with family at Opryland, especially the water roller coaster rides – even well into her 80’s! Mrs. Brandon is preceded in death by her husband George Hale Brandon, parents Albert & Nora Hunter Harvey, brothers & sisters Dudley Harvey, Mildred Harvey Scott, Wilson Harvey, Allen Harvey, Christine Harvey, & Ward Harvey, Nephew & Nieces: Kenneth (Verlie) Harvey, Nina Harvey, & Elaine Harvey (Ed) Moore. She is survived by her loving sister Mary Nell Melton of Avon Lake, OH (formerly of Ashland City), Nieces & Nephews Paul (Sarah) Harvey of Iuka, MS, Ron (Ann) Harvey of Florence, AL, Al Harvey of Schenectady, NY, Amy Harvey Tull of Collierville, TN, Joy Bateman (Michael) Herbert of Mays Landing, NJ, Andy (Deborah) Harvey of Collierville, TN, Sister-in-law: Faye Brandon of Murfreesboro, Devoted Friend & Caregiver: Betty (JR) Mosely of Nashville, Longtime friends & neighbors David, Patsy, David, Jr., & Daniel Pruitt. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 11:00 am – 12:45 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home, Nashville where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Dr. James Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to a charity of your choice, in loving memory of Elsie Brandon.
