Elsie “Christine” Freudenthal, 86, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022. Born March 25, 1936, in Nashville, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Thomas Pomeroy and Elsie Runner Pomeroy.
Christine was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed dearly. She loved anyone and everyone’s children. At church, she was the lady who always had candy in her purse. Each of her grandchildren had a special greeting that Chris would use when seeing them. She had traditionally attended Baptist church while her husband, Gus, was alive but transitioned to United Methodist following his death. She taught Sunday School for 4 year olds and adult women. Mrs. Freudenthal was retired from the State of Tennessee where she was a vital records clerk. Her family will remember her as being a sweet but feisty lady who truly loved her family, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed playing piano.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Gus Freudenthal, Sr.; son Gus Freudenthal, Jr.; brothers William, Leslie, Raymond, Pete and Buddy; sister Margie.
She is survived by her children Carl (Marcia) Freudenthal, Patricia Freudenthal, and Bob (Michelle) Freudenthal, Sr.; grandchildren Sam, Greg, Bobby Jr., Marc, Ryan, Jonathan, and Kristin; great grandchildren Emily, Shianne, Kaelynn, Jonathan Jr., Kirk, Kasen, Madison, Aiden, and Locklynn; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 15 from 10 am until 12 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 12 pm noon. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery alongside her husband.
