Mrs. Emogene Kirby Patterson's Obituary
Emogene Kirby Patterson, born May 18, 1928 in Nashville, TN to the late Henry Zelder and Oma Lynn Burlison Kirby passed away January 13, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Robert William Patterson; one grandson, Robert Kyle Patterson; brothers, Benton Morgan, Louis Delmon, Dorcie Kendrick, Garland Latimer, Harvey Delmas, Gerald Austin Kirby; sisters, Mary Louise Kirby Collier, Zelda Mai Kirby Meza; numerous nephews and nieces . She is survived by her children, Diana Gayle Patterson Moore, and Robert Dwight Patterson; four grandchildren, Andrea Moore, Robert Stacy Moore, Dana Hube (Keith), Kirby Moore (Amanda); five great grandchildren, Drake St. John, Kyle Patterson, Wesley Moore, Cody Hube, Sadie Moore; one sister, Charlene Kirby Romans, Fayetteville WV ; sisters-in-law, Edna Ruth Kirby, White House, TN, Earline Kirby, Dothan, AL; brother-in-law, Jess Patterson, Zainesville, IN; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Born and raised in Nashville, Gene graduated from Hume Fogg High School. After High School she married Robert William Patterson, also of Nashville, and raised two children, Diana Gayle and Robert Dwight. She was a longtime member of Northwood Baptist Church, Nashville TN. She also was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Centre Star 342. She was a bookkeeper for Mar-Dan block company for 25 years before she retired. She enjoyed crafting, especially ceramics and cross-stitching. She cared for many family members during her lifetime, but most of all she loved spending time and caring for family.
Visitation is January 17 2:00-6:00 PM with a celebration of life service to follow at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN. Burial will be at Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetary McCrory Lane, Pegram, TN on January 18 at 11:00 AM. Grandsons and nephews will be serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwood Baptist Church, 1287 Old Hickory Blvd. Nashville, TN.
