Eric Wayne Mumaw, age 44, passed away in the line of duty on February 2, 2017. He was born on July 22, 1972 in Westerville, Ohio to his loving mother, Esther Marie Connell. In addition to his mother, Eric is survived by his brothe Read Obituary
My condolences to the Mumaw family. I am a retired police officer from Mount Vernon, Ohio and living in Montana. Eric has ties to Mount Vernon. It would have been an honor to have served with such an officer as Eric. The people of Tennessee should be greatful to have had such a brave and couragous police officer watching out for their safety. Heaven has gained another guardian angel.

I work for the Metro Police Dept. I work in the records division. I never knew Eric. I never had the pleasure. My brother is a police officer in another town. He called and asked if I knew Eric. I said no, but in some ways, I think we all knew him. As a former police officer myself, I know his duty. I know that any officer that would have been there would have done the same thing. I feel sadness, and emptiness, and I along with everyone, will grieve this loss for a long time. I pray for Eric's family. I pray for his co workers, and all of the police department through this difficult time. I pray for strength for us all, and I pray the he will forever rest with the Lord.
