She retired at age 70 from Madison Healthcare as Assistant Director and Director of Nursing. She was a stay home mother until her children started school, then fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse by going back to school. She obtained her LPN license and worked as she studied to obtain her degree in nursing and received her license as a Registered Nurse. She was a hands-on nurse for 37 years. She worked at the Nashville Memorial Hospital in the critical care unit then became Director of Nurses at Vanco Manor. She retired from Madison Healthcare where she was the Director of Nurses then the Assistant Director of Nursing. She loved working with the elderly. She had a good rapport with her staff and was always willing to listen and give a hand to help no matter what the situation was.
Nursing, her children and the Church were her life and she was devoted to them all. She had a positive outlook on life and no matter how she felt, she was “fine”. She would say her faith was what got her through all her pain and trials of life. Her favorite activities were reading and tending to her gardens. She also enjoyed traveling and her many trips to the beach. She loved boating with her son and beach combing with her daughter.
In addition to those mentioned above, she was survived by her furry companions, Dixie and Wally.
