Mr. Ernest Maynard's Obituary
Ernest Franklin Maynard, age 82 of Nashville, passed away on February 26, 2015. A Nashville, Tennessee native, Ernest was born on September 22, 1932 to the late Owen and Lucy Maynard. Ernest was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
Ernest dated Miss Susie Ann Byrd for six years before the couple married and established a large family of eight children. His family recalls that Ernest was a “straight shooter” with a strong will and was never shy to say what he really felt. He loved his family, though, and they all speak of him with great love. “His heart may have been sideways, but he loved everybody,” recalls his daughter, Sherry.
Ernest loved country and Christian music, particularly Johnny Cash. He also enjoyed taking long walks, being outdoors, and could always be counted on to cheer someone up. “If I was down, he could always put a smile on my face,” remembers his daughter, Mary.
In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by four siblings; and four of his children, Raymond, Robert, Hazel, and Sandy.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Susie Ann; son, Wade Maynard (Rhonda); daughters, Sherry Maynard (Edwin), Joyce Coakley, and Mary Stoller (Kevin); nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many, many great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members, all of whom he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends and visitors on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 4pm until 8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be on Monday, March 2, 2015, from 11am until 1pm. A Celebration of Life Service to honor Ernest will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1pm, from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home.
