Mr. Eugene Austin Light's Obituary
Eugene Austin Light, age 86 of Nashville, passed away April 26, 2014. Gene was born on August 25, 1927 in Nashville, TN to the late Charles Edward and Lucille Binkley Light. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his one and only true love, his wife of 39 years, Deanie K. Light. Gene was a devoted husband and father; he served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy where he was assigned to a mine sweeper the Y.M.S. 41. He retired from Yellow Freight and Hermitage Explosives; was a member of the West Nashville Moose Lodge #2221 and was a longtime member of the Riverside Drive Church of Christ. He is survived by his daughters, Ruby (Tommy) Hagewood, Sandra L. Jordan and Bettie L. (Lynn) Dever; grandchildren, Apryl (Phillip) Stafford, JJ Stafford, LeiDena (Rob) Tate, Mark Hagewood, Jennifer (Jacky) Byars, Michael Austin (Lisa) Hagewood, Sarah (Dustin) Brann; great-grandchildren, Shaun Austin Stafford, Jaymie Stafford, Kasi Stafford, Cody Spraggins, Alex Stafford, Ciara White, Trenton White, Brantlee Tate, Leah Tate, Jackson Byars, Preston Byars, Nathaniel Byars, Zachary Byars and Austin Hagewood; 5 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 29th at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Hagewood officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
