Floy L. McKay's Obituary
Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Floy McKay, a truly remarkable woman who brightened every room she entered. Born on March 13th, 1941, in Atlanta, GA, Floy lived a life full of color, kindness, and creativity.
Floy was an outgoing spirit who loved red and sparkles, embodying joy and vivacity in all she did. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she cherished the decorations and lights that filled the season with magic. She was active in her church community, spending time with her church family and sharing her faith with everyone she met.
One of Floy's greatest joys was gathering loved ones during the holidays, sharing her delicious home-cooked meals. Her famous chocolate peanut butter balls were a treat we all looked forward to, made with love and shared generously.
Floy had a passion for games, delighting in playing cards and board games like Chinese checkers, Old Maid, and Aggravation. She was a talented Rummy player, matching sets and runs with ease, and always ready for a friendly competition.
She loved painting t-shirts for special occasions or just for fun. Her optimistic spirit and compassionate nature touched the lives of many, and she never met a stranger she didn't welcome as a friend.
Floy passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2025, in Hermitage, TN. While our hearts ache with her loss, we celebrate the beautiful memories she left us—memories filled with laughter, warmth, and the sparkle she brought into our lives.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Harold McKay, parents Calvin Thompson and Margaret Jacob Thompson, brothers, Leonard, Dewitt, Herbert, Vernon, and sisters, Sandra and Polly.
