Floyd Y. Adkisson, Jr.'s Obituary
Floyd Y. Adkisson, Jr. 85, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zena Mai and Floyd Y. Adkisson, Sr., and a stepmother, Cora Lee Traughber-Adkisson.
Mr. Adkisson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patty Adkisson, two sons, Trey Adkisson, and his wife Brenda, and Bill Adkisson and his wife Kelli, and four grandchildren, William Adkisson, Allison Sammons and her husband Elijah, Matthew Adkisson and Nathan Adkisson.
Mr. Adkisson was a native Nashvillian born on July 18, 1937. He worked for fifty years with his father as a Real-estate Appraiser. He was a Charter Member of Stephens Valley Church who was very well known to give out Double Bubble gum to everyone including people he met outside of the church. He was an avid Florida Gators fan as well as all other sports. His friends and family will be sharing stories of his endless jokes.
The family would like to give a special thank you to his caregivers for their kindness and excellent care at Saint Thomas and West Meade Place. His friends at the Gordon Jewish Community Center, “The J.” were very special to him as well and the family thanks them.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to gather at a time of sharing on Saturday, February fourth from one o’clock in the afternoon until four o’clock in the afternoon at the River Plantation, Section 6 Clubhouse, Bellevue located at 1000 General George Patton Road in Nashville. A rite of committal will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, February 7 at 11:00am. Those wishing to attend should meet at the funeral home at 10:45am. Everyone will process to the gravesite together at that time.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that donations to be made to Stephens Valley Church, 6000 Pasquo Road, Nashville, TN 37221.
