Mrs. Frances Brown's Obituary
Frances O. Brown, who resided in Nashville, TN since 2009, passed away on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 at the age of 95.
Frances Brown (maiden name Williams) was born on Oak Mountain, near Carrollton, Georgia on July 16, 1922. She grew up there on a small farm with her parents where they lived through the Great Depression. Born under difficult circumstances while her mother was suffering from Typhoid fever and not expected to survive her birth, she was a bright and active child who had a love of growing flowers and plants that stayed with her throughout her life. As a young girl she often spent hours rambling the Georgia countryside picking berries with a faithful bird dog named Joe and she told great stories of those days in the country and of her youth.
Frances also lived for many years in Alabama in the cities of Gadsden, Birmingham and Fairhope, on Mobile Bay, an area that she loved. Wherever she lived, Frances would work for long hours planting flowers and beautifying her yard for the enjoyment of everyone. She spent most of her professional career in sales and was very accomplished in that field. A very spirited, good natured, friendly woman who loved to laugh, loved to dance and loved to cook, she enjoyed a very long productive life. While in her 80’s she often worked by sitting with sick people and assisting in their care saying that she took care of “old people”, many of them actually younger than she was.
She is survived by her son, Kim K. Young, one grandson, Jubal Lee Young and his wife Holly, one granddaughter, Amy Michelle Frate, 5 great grandchildren, Sophie, Kai and Rakim, Sophia and Haven, one step daughter, Barbara Brown-Lehouton as well as numerous cousins. Living to such an advanced age, Frances outlived many of her relatives and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her her father, Ronald Owen Williams, her mother, Coe B. Horsley (maiden name Phillips), her step father, Arlin M. Horsley, her sister, Helen Horsley, who died at the age of 6, her husband, Robert Brown, and her first son, Stephen T. Young of Nashville, TN, a very accomplished singer, musician and songwriter of whom she was very proud. Frances will be greatly missed by the many people who loved her, however we celebrate the freedom of her now soaring spirit.
Memorial services to be announced at a later date.
