Mrs. Frances "Jean" Duncan's Obituary
Mrs. Frances “Jean” Jernigan Duncan, age 84 of Madison, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. She was born on September 26, 1936 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Halcomb and Frances Williams Halcomb; daughter Dinah Walton; grandmother who raised her Lauren "Angel" Williams.
She is survived by her loving husband Gibson Duncan, Jr.; daughter Debra Duncan; son Gibson Duncan, III.; sister-in-law Gayle Doggett (Dale); nephew Jeff Coleman (Laura); close friend John Whitaker (Claudia); and a host of cousins and extended family.
Jean graduated from St. Thomas Nursing School as a Registered Nurse. She loved being a nurse and worked as an Emergency room nurse, floor supervisor, Always Care Nursing Service, Nursing Home manager, and her last job was at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was a caregiver to many including her mother-in-law and her mother. She also loved traveling and especially soaking up the sun at the beach. Jean found a lot of friends through work as well as her Sunday School class at Inglewood Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 12 PM noon until 2 PM. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place at 2 PM with Dr. Kevin Shrum officiating. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
