Mr. Frederick Bradley Rogers' Obituary
Mr. Frederick Bradley Rogers, age 88, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Fred was born to Gladys (Hendricks) Rogers on December 20, 1928 in Bound Brook, New Jersey.
Fred married the love of his life Lorene Simms on November 18, 1950. They celebrated 60 years of marriage until Lorene’s death. Fred worked for over 20 years with the Metro Water Department in the Collections department. Fred served his country honorably in the Merchant Marines and then the U.S. Army. He completed his military service in the United States Air Force from 1949-1953. In addition, Fred graduated from the University of Tennessee, with a degree in Psychology.
Fred was an animal lover, loved the outdoors and the water, and was an avid historian, with a love of telling war stories to anyone who would listen. He loved woodworking, and built many pieces of furniture for family members. After retirement, his past times included being an active member of the American Legion Post 17, and serving others by delivering Meals on Wheels.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorene, brother William Rogers, and his two sisters; Gladys Haney and Frances Krase.
Fred is survived by his two daughters; Kathy (Carl) Ballinger and Sharon (Danny) Sulkin; grandson Adam (Angie) Wheeler; and his two great-grandsons Bradley and Benjamin Wheeler. In addition, Fred is survived by his nephews Roger Krase, Bobby Krase, Richard Haney, Gregory Haney; and his niece Sue Dominko.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 5pm-8pm. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 10am in the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
