Freeda Pryor Hudson of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away October 3, 2023. She was 86 years old. She was the daughter of the late Floyd M. and Betty Myrtle Pryor, and was raised in Rock Bridge, Tennessee. She was a member of the North View Church of Christ in Columbia, Tennessee. Freeda was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Wayne Hudson; brothers Wayne Pryor, Harold Pryor, Nathan Pryor, Phillip Pryor, Allen Pryor; sisters Ruby Jackson, Ezma Gray, Ruth Doss, and Doris Grantham.
Freeda was a graduate of Gallatin High School. She spent her entire working career with South Central Bell (AT&T) in Nashville, Paducah, Kentucky and Columbia.
Freeda suffered from Alzheimer's disease and spent the last six years of her life as a resident of The Arbors at Willow Spring's Alzheimer's Assisted Living Facility in Spring Hill, Tennessee. The family wishes to thank the Arbor's staff for all of the loving support and care that Freeda received while she was a resident there. During her residency there, she was asked to tell them about herself. Below is a description of her life in her own words.
Daughter of Farmers, from Rock Bridge, Tennessee. Freeda was born September 16, 1937. One of ten children, they all had plenty of work to do around the farm. Freeda is very proud of the work ethic she gained from her parents. She has funny stories of her brothers going out and leaving her to milk cows for them.
Freeda attended Gallatin High School and her mother instilled in all her children the importance of a good education. She was very active in different athletics. I guess this is where she learned her competitive nature. She enjoys a good game of baseball or basketball, but bowling is for sure where she shines.
Freeda met the love of her life, Harry Wayne and remained faithful even after his passing. Freeda worked for Bell South Telephone Company in Nashville for many years and enjoys reminiscing on those days as well.
Even though she and Harry had no children of their own, Freeda was blessed with many nieces and nephews that she cared for over the years and now they in return do the same for her. She loves them all dearly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023, 10:00 am in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, Tennessee with Garrett Bookout officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow immediately after.
