They were married November 9, 1946, and enjoyed 68 years together before his death in 2015 when she moved to Franklin to be near her daughter and grandson. They were charter members of Dalewood Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School and sang in the choir. At her death she was the last surviving charter member.
