Mr. Garner E. Norfleet Jr.'s Obituary
NORFLEET, Garner E., born November 27, 1929, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 85 years of age. Mr. Norfleet was preceded in death by his parents, Garner and Louise Norfleet, his brother Bobby Chilton Norfleet and Caleb ‘Duke’ Norfleet, his pet companion for 14 years. He served his country in the Korean War in the U.S. Army, retired after 50 years as an Offset Pressman and was a great hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Carmen Norfleet, daughters, Teresa (Skip) Hogue and Tonya Norfleet and sons, Carman (Katie JangDhari) Norfleet, the Rev. Dr. Douglas (Ashley) Norfleet and his Grandchildren, Matthew Uselton (Rebecca), Kyle Uselton, and Robbie Uselton Parsons (Harry), Kristen Norfleet, Sasha Norfleet (Danielle), Jaron Norfleet, Jacob Norfleet, Tiffany Hogue, Misty Hogue, Justin Hogue, Dawn Owen (Sam) and Jalen Hogue. Mr. Norfleet had 11 Great Grandchildren, John Wyatt and James Matthew Uselton, Victoria Spitznas, Perry ‘PJ’ Joseph Sanders, Finn David Parsons, Jackson Earl Dansby, Jeremiah Lee Dansby, Jessica Grimsley, Jordan Wilkinson (Trent), Jacey Owen, Chase Hensley; brother, Melvin (Bonnie) Norfleet; sister, Dimples Cantrell; brother, Larry Norfleet; along with several beloved Grandogs. He was Sunday School Superintendent and a Sunday school teacher for 20 yrs at Jordonia United Methodist Church where he’s been a member for 66 years. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Springhill Funeral Home in Nashville and on Wednesday, at Jordonia United Methodist Church at 4225 Cato Road, Nashville, TN from noon until 1:00 p.m. where services will be conducted by the Reverend Rosemary Brown. Pallbearers will be Matthew Uselton, Kyle Uselton, Harry Parsons, Jalen Hogue, Jaron Norfleet, Jacob Norfleet, Sasha Norfleet, Bill Norfleet, and Honorary Pallbearers are members of Jordonia United Methodist Church along with his nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Jordonia United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
