Mr. Gary E. Hall's Obituary
Gary Hall, resident of Hendersonville, Tennessee, was born August 21, 1949, in Lafayette, Tennessee, and died May 23, 2015.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Gary held a degree in Engineering and worked for the State of Tennessee for forty years. Designing bridges served as both his vocation and his avocation.
Gary and Patricia Costello Hall have been married twenty-eight years. Sharing an interest in travel, the couple has traveled extensively overseas and across the United States.
A member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Gary Hall was active in the television production and editing of the Missionary Baptist affiliated program, The Old Fashion Gospel Hour. Gary avidly supported missionaries and their efforts in the field.
Preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Gracie Brandon Hall, Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia (Costello) Hall, his uncle, several cousins, beloved niece Katherine, his “Costello” family, and his “State” family.
An encourager of education and the arts, Gary often spoke of the merits of continuing education (especially at UT). Gary enjoyed nature and shared his enthusiasm with others.
Gary showed his great love for his wife and his family and friends in countless ways, whether it was finding a special present or caring for a loved one. But, most importantly, Gary Hall loved God. In the throes of cancer, Gary witnessed and told others of his salvation experience from Tulsa to his bed at Alive Hospice in Nashville. An inspiration to many, Gary gave an example of a courageous man who allowed God to use his life to influence others for the better.
Perhaps, these words best describe anyone who knew Gary well and what feelings occur today…
Although we will never meet again here on earth, before we meet in Heaven I want you to know: A large part of me is made of what I learned from you. So in that way, in the lessons that I learned from you, the courage, the patience, the kindness, the grace, the love…you will always be with me. Your handprint will be on my heart.
And although physically you will not be here with me, your legacy will be. You have rewritten the end of my story by being a true friend. Because I knew you, your courage, grace, and love, I have been changed as a person. I have been blessed by your life. I have seen the love you have for God; I have witnessed your walk with Him, and I know my world is a better place because of you.
Gary's family will receive friends and visitors on Wednesday, May 27th, from 4:00 until 8:00pm. Additional visitation will be from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Thursday, May 28th.
Elder Barry Armour and Elder Ottis Jones will lead a Celebration of Life service to honor Gary on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 12:00pm from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Meadow Ridge Garden of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
