Mr. Gary Williams' Obituary
Gary L. Williams, of Racine, WI was called home in Nashville,TN on April 23, 2019. He was born on May 28, 1970 to Willie Matthew and Mattie Greer-Boykin. He attended Lemoyne Owen college in Memphis, TN; were he was initiated into the Beta Zeta Chapter Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He later transferred to Tennessee State University where he earned three degrees; a bachelor of science in social work (B.S), master of science in school counseling with a certification in PreK-12 (M.S) and an educational specialist degree in administration and supervision; PreK-12 (Ed.S). He was an educator; a counselor for over 10 years, serving middle and high school students. He served as a mentor and a role model to many boys struggling with their place in today’s society. He was an advocate for those who were underprivileged and unrepresented... He also enjoyed sports and was an avid martial arts enthusiasts, jujitsu, wrestling and football coach. Surviving is his mother (whom he always gave thanks to) Mattie Greer-Boykin, stepfather; Sam Boykin, brother; Michael Greer, aunts; Annie and Bertha Williams, first cousins; Felicia, Nichole, Rochelle, Stephanie, Tony and Tyrone Williams, best friend; Dr. Shameka Beadle-Rush, Phi Beta Sigma brothers and a whole list of family, friends and students. Gary was preceded in death by father; Willie Matthew, grandfather; Boots Williams, grandmother; Bell Williams, and first cousin; Anthony Williams. Cremation held at: Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Pike
