Geneva A. Pence, 86, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. Born August 4, 1935, in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Allen Hill Toney and Icey May Casto Toney.
Once in a while, someone amazing comes along and here she is. When she was a little girl still at home and not yet married, they called her ‘Aunt BB’ because most of them couldn't say ‘Geneva’. When she married and had seven children they called her ‘Mama’. Then her grandchildren came along and each one had a different name they called her and she didn't mind, she loved them all. Mamaw, Granny, Memaw has gone to be with Jesus.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Pence; sons George Allen Pence (Nancy) and Jerry Wayne Pence (Faye); sisters Nancy Tyler and Janet Tilley; brothers Paul Toney and Allen Toney; and a set of twin siblings that died as infants.
She is survived by children Charles Paul ‘Chuck’ (Brenda) Pence, Connie Christopher, Shirley Koenig, Tammie (Lee) Pence and Mark Shannon (Stacey) Pence; sister Jenny Jones; grandchildren Allen, Shana, Kayla, Alona, Jason, Ashley, Damon, Brittney, Geneva, Adam, Mitch, Joe, Jessica, DJ and Chey; 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville on Sunday, January 23 at from 4 PM until 8 PM. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service with Jerry Reynolds officiating will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 24 at 10 AM. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Vanderpool, Chase Vanderpool, Adam Koenig, Jason Potter, and Allen Pence.
