George Binkley Lance's Obituary
LANCE, George Binkley Age 86 of Nashville passed away on Tuesday, December 28th at his home. He was born to the late Marvin C. and Tracie C. Lance, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Marvin C. Lance, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Willie Lance; cousins, John Henderson, Phoebe Lance, of Addison, IL,and Rose Singleton, of Roselle, IL. George graduated from East Nashville High School in 1941 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1942. Having served in Europe until 1945 as a Corporal, he was in the Battle of the Bulge, D-Day, and the Battle of the Siegfried Line. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, the Good Conduct Medal, and three campaign medals. Following his discharge from the Army he was employed at Nashville Dental, Inc. for 52 years, retiring at age 75. Active pallbearers: Dick Geyer, Tim Williams, Jack Steele, Mike Brown, Don Walden, Bob Patterson, Daniel Miller, and Everett Green. Honorary pallbearers: John Henderson, Tom Brown, Larry Stinson, Tommy Jones, James Bridgeman, Claude Buck, Dr. Hyatt Sutton, Lewis Watson, Elders and Deacons of Lebanon Road Church of Christ, and Residents of Heartland Pointe. George received special assistance from Mary Ann Patterson, Miko Griffin, and Guardian Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to Worldwide Evangelism , P.O. Box 40105 Nashville, TN 37204 or to the Disaster Relief Fund, 410 Allied Dr. Nashville, TN 37211. He will be interred at Hendersonville Memory Gardens following services.
