Mr. George Dennis Coon Jr.'s Obituary
George Dennis Coon, Jr., age 89, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee. George was born on September 24, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee to George Dennis Coon, Sr. and Minnie May (Rost) Coon.
George was a wonderful, generous gentleman with a servant’s heart. He was a man who had his priorities straight, with those being, God, family, friends and his printing company, Mat-Co Business Forms, of which he was the co-owner. He graduated from the Isaac Litton High School in 1948. He cherished his family and the life that he had been blessed with. He was a member of Madison Church of Christ. He served in leadership positions with various organizations, including the printing industry, alumni association and community support through the years.
George is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Joleen (Moore) Coon, two daughters, Crista Kelly and Cheryl Harper (David); sister, Shirley Ward (Gene); grandchildren, Reise Kelly (Kelly), Nathan Kelly, Matthew Kelly, Ryan Harper (Jessica), and Travis Harper (Ginna); great-grandchildren, Emory Jolean Kelly and Caroline Quinn Kelly.Special appreciation to Life Care Center of Old Hickory Village, Hall 100, Care-giver friends, Catherine Grigsby, Shena Beddington, Bianka Howse and Dr. Joshua Smithson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 10-12 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home with a celebration of life service to follow at 12 noon. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be family members with honorary pallbearers to be, Mat-Co Business Forms employees, as well as, Frank Matter, Willie McDonald, Morris Dennis, Bobby Sims, and David Bower.
