Mr. George L. Huffman's Obituary
Mr. George L. Huffman, 84, a resident of Donelson died Sunday, May 28, 2014 at Lakeshore Heartland.
The Knoxville native was the son of the late Clarence H., Sr. and Bessie Mabel Mays Huffman. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was retired from Metro Nashville Civil Defense and had several previous businesses of Taxidermy and a Service Station, also started the first Cab Company in Donelson. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and was Past Grand Master of the Odd Fellows. He was instrumental in starting a Boy Scout Troop and a Rifle and Pistol Club. He wrote a weekly column for the Donelson Diary and was a member of the Red Cross Disaster Relief Program. His loving and caring manner for other people made him a true humanitarian for his community.
He is survived by his wife, Mohdeen Harris Huffman; a niece, Linda Huffman and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother,Clarence H. Huffman, Jr. and a niece, Sharon Sephens.
A celebration of Life service will be conducted Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 2:00PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Cameron and Charles Worrell officiating. The service will begin with Odd Fellows rites. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 12 noon until service time. Entombment will be in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery Mausoleum with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to any Hospice organization or the Humane Society.
