Mrs. Georgia Mae Evans' Obituary
Age 92. Born on October 24, 1923 and died on November 23, 2015 at the Barton House in Nashville after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Known to family members as “Aunt Georgia”, she was married to her late husband Richard Morris Evans for 70 years. Morris died in July 2015. Georgia and Morris didn’t have children of their own, but were loved dearly by numerous nieces and nephews and large extended family. Georgia is survived by nephew Roy E. Smith, Jr. (Cathy) and nieces Patricia Phipps (John) and Marilyn Burney (Michael). They along with their children and grandchildren all loved “Aunt Georgia” and considered her a grandmother. Georgia is also survived by her brother, Claudie (Carol) Phillips. On any given Friday night during their great nieces and nephews sporting years, you could find Morris and Georgia cheering in the stands, or attending some event the kids were involved in. Georgia was witty, and could make anyone laugh. She had a gentle and kind soul that made everyone around her feel like they were one of her own. She enjoyed going to Opryland U.S.A. and listening to the country music and watching live shows. She also loved painting whatever crafts Morris would make. In their later years, they moved to Ashland City, and then to Madison. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Woodcrest at Blakeford and the Barton House for their care of Georgia. Visitation will be Saturday, November 28 at 9 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 10 a.m. Visitation and funeral services will be held at the Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, Madison, Tenn.
