Georgia Rice - Knight's Obituary
Georgia Johnson Rice-Knight, 75, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. She was born on November 26, 1947, to the late Carlton Don Johnson and Marjorie Lockyer Johnson in Warren, Ohio. A graduate of Kent State University, Georgia taught high school English in Ohio and Tennessee, pausing her career prior to the arrival of her daughter.
Georgia was a woman of strong Christian faith and was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, Tennessee. She cultivated a love for animals at a young age and became a strong advocate of all God’s creatures. Throughout her life, many dogs, cats and horses seamlessly became a part of the family. Always staying active and ready for adventure, she enjoyed riding horses, hiking, playing racquetball, snow skiing and water skiing. She was also an excellent dancer and remained a yoga and fitness instructor throughout her later years. A beautiful woman, inside and out, she was also a senior model.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of over fifteen years, Gerald Lee Rice. She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-one years, Larry Knight; daughter, Jeri (Nick) Rice Gerstle; stepdaughter, Teresa (Chris) Reed; stepson, Allen (Kim) Knight; grandchildren, Grant, Abby, Matthew and Micah; brother, Carlton Don Johnson Jr.; niece, Lori (Orlando) Uriarte and nephew, Ryan (Tammy) Johnson; and her faithful canine companion, Ranger.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place in Mt. Juliet at the Del Webb Lake Providence Clubhouse on October 14, 2023, from 10am-12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Georgia’s memory to Nashville Humane Association by going to this link https://nashvillehumane.org/give/
