Georgia Small Ellis' Obituary
ELLIS, Georgia Small; Age 92 of Nashville. On Friday October 1, 2010, the spirit of Georgia Small Ellis passed from this life into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Though cancer appeared to have prevailed, Georgia was more than conqueror through Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead. She was born in Florence, AL on July 25, 1918 to the late Charles Wade and Georgia Bass Small. Upon graduation from Coffee High School in Florence, AL, she explored a number of career opportunities in Nashville, where she met and married the second greatest love of her life, Alvin Harvey Ellis, who preceded her in death in 2000 after 59 years of marriage. While raising her family, she enjoyed 31 years with First American National Bank. She was actively involved in the ministries of Inglewood Baptist Church since 1941, where she was a Bible teacher through August. She was beloved for her wit and humor and for her amazing cooking skills. She loved her Saviour, her family, her church and her football. Vandy and Bama have lost their biggest fan. Her memories are cherished by daughter, Georgia Ann (Jay W.)O'Mainnin, of Goodlettsville, TN , and son, Alvin Charles William (Julie) Ellis, of Memphis, TN, and four grandchildren, Patty Williams, Charles Wesley (Alison) Manning, Ami (John) McVay, and David Ellis. She was "Big Granny" to five great-grandchildren: Joseph W."Jake" Williams, Daniel McVay, Ashleigh McVay, Joshua McVay and Charles Peyton Manning. Her family expresses gratitude to her many caregivers and friends during her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Inglewood Baptist Church Building Fund, 3901 Gallatin Rd., Nashville, TN 37216 or to Willowbrook Hospice, 125 B Haven Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075.
