Georgina Abisellan, M.D.'s Obituary
Georgina Abisellan, M.D. Born in Havana, Cuba, Oct. 22nd, 1934. Passed away in Thomasville, Georgia, May 19th, 2011. Preceded in death by her father, Gabriel Argudin, DDS., and her mother, professor Georgia Argudin. Dr. Abisellan was an ophthalmologist in her native country of Cuba. In the late 1960's she immigrated to the United States with her family. She did a specialty at Vanderbilt Hospital in Psychiatry, and then went into private practice in the Donelson/Hermitage area of Nashville. She was instrumental in the creation of the Psychiatric Unit at Donelson Hospital/ Summit Medical Center, where she served as its director for many years. She retired from practice in 2005. Dr. Abisellan is survived by her loving children, Dr. Raulie Santos (Christine) and their children Lauren and David Santos; Georgina Santos Beaty (Jeffery) and her son Christopher Espaillat Santos; Maria D'Orazio (Derek) and their daughter Sirena D'Orazio. She will be missed but never forgotten by her family, friends and colleagues, and by all whose lives she touched. A Memorial Service will be held on June 10th, 2011 at 12:00 PM, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 190 Graylynn Drive, Nashville, TN 37214.
