Geraldine “Geri” McClanahan Boyd
A memorial service for Geraldine “Geri” McClanahan Boyd, age 88, will be held on Tuesday, February 28 from 7-9pm at the Oak Crest Retirement Center in DeKalb, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 9:30am in the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home, Nashville, TN. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Caleb Westbrook, her grandson, and minister in the Church of Christ, will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 7-9pm at Spring Hill.
Born Feb 13, 1929, in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of John Bradley McClanahan and Grace Lee (nee Winfrey) McClanahan, she passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the Oak Crest Health Care Center surrounded by her family.
Geri graduated with distinction from High School in Nashville, and worked as a stenographer. She met and courted her husband, James William “Billy” Boyd, and was married on August 6, 1950. She was a loving mother who enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidering, quilting, and playing the piano. She enjoyed playing card games and board games, and most of all, she loved being with her family and actively attending and supporting the local Church of Christ where she was a member.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Vicky) Boyd of Tucson, AZ, Linda (Don) Neff of Sycamore,IL and Barb (Rick) Westbrook of Richmond, MO., 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, and her sister, Frankie Patterson of Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James William “Billy” Boyd in 2004, and her daughter, Sandy Boyd, in 1988.
