Mrs. Gertrude Katherine Ellis' Obituary
Gertrude Katherine Ellis, age 95, passed away January 20, 2015. Born May 27, 1919 in Springfield, TN. to the late Bud Alexander and Mossie Allison Dillaha. Preceded in death by her husband Clarence Buford Ellis and two grandchildren Karen Yvonne Clark and Bryan Timothy Ellis. She is survived by her children Clarence Edgar Ellis (Hope), Katherine Bogle (Duke), Jere Dean Croft, and Gladys Al-Chokhachi (Akil); grandchildren Keith Bogle (Deeann), Andy Bogle, Jennifer Stone (Jeff), Michael Clark (Tammy), Jeffrey Clark (Lorraine), Earl Charles Clark (Lorrie), Jamil Al-Chokhachi, Heather Al-Chokhachi, Zachary Al-Chokhachi, Sherry Graves (Tim), Karen Powell (Stanley), Kristina Giovanetti, and Renee Cochran (Terry); fifteen great-grandchildren Anna Leigh, Kate, Alex, Brady, Mike, Tommy, Stephen, Brandon, Landon, Cody, Farrah, Becca, Laith, and one great-great-grandchild.
Gertrude was a member of Inglewood United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending Cornerstone Church. She retired from Walgreens as a fountain manager. After retirement, she served 17 years as a tech at Baptist Hospital. Her family was everything to her. She had a servant heart and great sense of humor. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 23, 2015, 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Voorhees officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216, 615-865-1101.
