Ms. Gladys Neely Smith's Obituary
Ms. Gladys Neely Smith, age 94 of Goodlettsville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020. She was born on September 17, 1925 to the late William and Gladys Neely in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers William “Billy” Neely, Jr., Robert Neely, Felix “Jack” Neely, Sr., George Neely, and Joseph Neely. She is survived by her sons Phillip and Samuel Smith, her grandsons Neely Smith, Caleb Smith, and Joseph Smith, as well as a host of friends and extended family.
Ms. Smith was a strong, independant, and intelligent lady. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly, had lots of friends, and was very well loved and respected in her community. She taught Title 1 Math in Millersville for Sumner County Schools for many years before she retired and she was a proud member of Connell Memorial Methodist Church. Her church and faith were both very important to her. She loved to garden, and grew vegetables and such, but her favorite thing to grow was flowers. Ms. Smith loved growing, as well as admiring, flowers and she always adored going to Cheekwood and seeing their flowers. She very much enjoyed entertaining, and always wanted to have people in her home for dinner parties and other occasions. She also enjoyed many hobbies including, cooking, canning, genealogy research, and scrapbooking.
