I was shocked when I found this today. I lost touch with Grace, my aunt, a few years ago. I would call her from time to time to check on her. Then I called her on her birthday only to find out that was no longer her number. I loved our talks.

When my uncle, Will Allen Smith, married Grace I was little and I got upset because I thought she was taking him away and I wouldn't be able to see him again. I was wrong.

Grace was a special lady and I loved her very much.

I tried to find her when my mom passed away 4 years ago and again when my dad passed away 3 years ago but didn't know how to find her. I am sorry we lost touch.

Pam and Karen please know that I am praying for all of you. I now know how it feels to loose your mom.

Very few individuals can make a permanent mark on your life. Gracie Smith was a woman that made a mark on mine. She was a church mom to all of us teenagers at Inglewood Nazarene while I attended there. I’ll never forget a Key Lime pie that she made that was so sour it made my jaws hurt. At the time I didn’t know it was supposed to be sour.
She would always make an effort to come and talk to me every Sunday. I struggled to fit in with the crowd but I was an odd one. She would always tell me she just wanted me to know that I was loved. For a teenager trying to find their way in life, that meant the world to me. Pam and Karen got her beauty and her sense of humor.
Who would have thought a simple smile and an effort to make me feel special would change me. She will never be forgotten. Thank God she was there to give me the assurance that I was loved.
