Mr. Harold "Mac" McElroy's Obituary
Harold “Mac” McElroy, age 83 of Nashville, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on November 28, 2014.
Mac was born on June 12, 1931 to the late Houston and Estella McElroy. Mac was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and a handsome smile, and he never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Even when he corrected someone’s spelling or pronunciation – which he did even in his final days - he always did so gently so that no one’s feelings were hurt. Mac was a hard worker and a family man. He always made sure that his family was well taken care of. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
Mac is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Marie McElroy; daughters, Ronnie Duckworth, and Rhonda Kirby; sister, Betty Keisling; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mac’s family will receive friends and visitors on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
A Celebration of Life Service to honor Mac will take place on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Serenity Chapel Mausoleum of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, with Blake Kirby, Alan Hargrove, Will Hudson, Bruce Duckworth, Rodney Lansdown, and Phil Hardaway serving as Pallbearers.
