Mr. Harold Waldon “Sonny” Smith, Jr., age 85 of Goodlettsville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020. He was born on December 24, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas as the only child to Harold and Beatrice Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ellen Young Smith. He is survived by his daughters Shannon Prow (Tim), Kimberly Allen (Donald), grandsons Caleb Prow (Emily Bowman), Ethan Prow, and Donovan Allen, as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.
Sonny was a generous, kindhearted man, who was always happy. Growing up as an only child, he was overjoyed to be welcomed into a large family when he married Mary Ellen in 1957, and he made family his primary focus his entire life. He loved nothing more than just spending time with his family. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in the 1950’s and worked as an Oil Scout for Luling Oil and Gas for many years afterward.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Mr. Smith request that donations in his memory be made to the Shriner’s Hospital or The Seventh Day Adventist Church Madison Campus Building Fund.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday September 2, 2020 from 1-3pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning at 3pm.
