Mr. Harold R. Wassom's Obituary
Harold R. Wassom, age 74, of Hendersonville passed away August 14, 2014. Mr. Wassom is preceded in death by his parents Orman and Vela Wassom. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet Wassom; son Bill (Shelley Wassom); granddaughter Haley Elizabeth Wassom of Atlanta, Ga. and sister Janette Hall.
A 1958 graduate of Isaac Litton High School, he attended Tennessee Tech. Harold began his career in Electronic Engineering at Dye Electron where he completed two civilian tours in Vietnam. Upon returning to Nashville, he worked at Avco Corp and later Lucent Technology, where he retired in 2002.
A proud member of Hendersonville First Baptist, Harold enjoyed traveling, attending monthly “Class of 58 Litton” gatherings, and was an avid sports fan. A loving husband, father and friend who cherished being “Papa” to his beloved Haley.
Services, led by Bro. Bruce Chesser, will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm with Visitation Saturday 4 to 6 pm and Sunday at 1:00 at the Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Thomas B. Craighead garden of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street Nashville Tn 37203. A special “Thanks” to the incredible care given by Skyline Hospice, Dr. Lisa Bond, nursing staff and volunteer Leslie Loven.
