Harriette Simpkins' Obituary
SIMPKINS, Harriette Goodman. Born June 23, 1922 in Atlanta, GA, went to be with the Lord January 29, 2010. Preceded in death by her husband James Morris Simpkins in 1981, mother Minnie Belle Scruggs and father Robert Louis Goodman. Mrs. Simpkins attended schools in Atlanta and Nashville. She was an organizing member of Dalewood Baptist Church and taught childrens Sunday School at Eastland Baptist and Dalewood for forty-five years. She was a life member of Belmont University Auxilliary and a member of the Woman’s Club of Nashville. Survived by daughter Marcia Simpkins Cook and her husband Kenneth Cook, Jr., two grandchildren, Catherine Cook Garrett husband Michael Garrett, grandson David Cook wife Leann Cook, great-grandchildren John Michael Garrett, Christopher David Garrett, Jacob Gregory Garrett, Abigail Lynn Cook, and Tyler Austin Cook, Sister, Anne Eaton; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 2, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at Dalewood Baptist Church conducting Rev. Mike Dawson and Rev. Ken Castleberry. Honorary pallbearers, Members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class Dalewood Baptist Church and Caregivers of Alive Hospice. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 1, 2010, 3:30-7:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Tuesday 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Dalewood Baptist Church.
