Mrs. Helen Apple Kent's Obituary
Helen Apple Kent, age 97, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Helen was born on August 26, 1921 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Willie Brown Apple and Nettie Davidson.
Helen was a much-loved mother to her three children, and a devoted wife to her husband, Elmer, of 67 years. She was a scholar during her school years and an avid reader. Helen was accomplished at playing the violin and piano. As a true southern lady, Helen enjoyed entertaining friends and family, and was widely known for being an excellent cook and hostess while pursuing a culinary hobby that she thoroughly enjoyed. Sewing and embroidery were other interests of hers.
Helen was active in church and Sunday School classes for many years. She held offices in several civic, community and historical organizations. Along with her husband she supported two family businesses with her bookkeeping and administrative skills.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elmer I. Kent; sisters Leona Ruth Apple, Irmagene Apple, Imogene Apple and Peggy Huff; brothers Donald Apple and Alan Apple; a nephew Kevin Apple.
She is survived by her three children Carolyn Anita Kent, Don (Darlyne) Kent and Marilyn (Joe) Diaferia; her brother Carlyle Davidson Apple; grandchildren Brandon (Sandra) Kent, Melissa (Nic) Hamilton, Rissy (Dustin) Littlepage and Joey Diaferia, III; great-grandchildren Caitlin Hamilton and Dominick Littlepage; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 2, 2018, from 12:30 PM to 2 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM with Dr. Hunter Cummings officiating. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Kent, Joey Diaferia, Nic Hamilton, Dustin Littlepage, Andy Huff, Joel Waltenbaugh, and Jeff Falvo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl David Apple and Theron Cheney.
