Helen Ruth Shipley's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ms. Helen Ruth Shipley on May 19th, 2022. She was born on November 14th, 1938 to the late Albert Hughes, Sr. and Minnie Koonce Hughes in Port Royal, Tennessee.
Helen was a beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, step-grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a servant’s heart and was a member of Hendersonville Missionary Baptist Church. She was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Al and Minnie; beloved husband Don Shipley; brother Robert Hughes; and sister Mary Ann Gupton. She is survived by her children Julie Gulas (George) and Allen DeShields (Peggy); stepson Huston Shipley (Sherry); brothers Ralph Hughes and Al Hughes, Jr.; grandson Brad DeShields (Rachel); step-grandchildren Sierra Powers (Hayden), Casey Shipley, and David Henderson (Amber); and great-grandson Kit Powers.
A graveside service will take place at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery at 1:00 PM, 303 Leslie Avenue, Glasgow, KY 42141.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
