Mrs. Helen Ruth Morgan Snell's Obituary
Helen Ruth Morgan Snell, age 83 of Madison, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Skyline Medical Center.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Donald Wade Snell; parents, Hazel and Walter Morgan; sisters, Elizabeth Morris and Donna Morgan; and brother, Walter Morgan, Jr. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Beulah and Robert Shumate; brother and sister-in-law, Forrest and Dorothy Morgan; and sister-in-law, Betty Jo Morgan.
Helen was born June 12, 1929 in Nashville, TN. She attended East High School prior to her marriage to Mr. Snell. He was a 40-year employee of the Newspaper Printing Corporation as Superintendent of the Composing Room before his retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, having attended Shelby Avenue, Old Center and was currently a member of Madison Church of Christ. After surviving three brain surgeries, she continued to maintain her sweet and loving smile, determination, fortitude and resolve but lost her courageous battle undergoing rehabilitation therapy at a local health center. Most of her life was centered around her family and being co-mother to nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She was a truly a loving second mother and always referred to them as her children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend our gratitude to all the cousins, especially Donna and Rod Lilly, Glenda and T.L Leffel, and devoted friend and caregiver, Mike Sullivan.
A celebration of Mrs. Snell’s life will be conducted at 1 P.M., Saturday, May 18, 2013 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Phil Barnes and Raymond Langlois officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery with Norman Slate officiating and Trey Howell, Travis Howell, Billy Howell, IV, Gerry McMahon, G.T. McMahon, Phillip Draper, Rod Lillly, T.L. Leffel and Walter Morgan, III serving as pallbearers. The Elders and Deacons of Madison Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Friday, May 17 and from 12 P.M until 12:45 P.M., prior to the service, Saturday at Spring Hill Funeral Home.
