Mr. Herman Reed Jones' Obituary
Herman Reed Jones, Sgt. 1st Class, US Army, retired, 89, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at his residence in Madison.
The Ellijay, Georgia native was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Lona Mae Harper Jones. He was a retired Sergeant First Class in the United States Army having been a Transportation Specialist serving in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was in duties of Japan, France, and Germany. In most recent years he was an installer and inspector for ADT Company. He was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church, Goodlettsville, enjoyed fishing, bowling and was a Mr. Fix-It at home.
He is survived by his wife Minnie Jones; a daughter, Patricia Ann Rickman; a sister, Genevelyn (Melvin) Bunch; a grandson, Joseph David Etheridge; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debi Etheridge; a son, Joseph Herman Jones; 2 sisters, Marilyn Gibson and Pauline Jones; 3 brothers, Herbert, J.P. , and Billie Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10:00AM at the Parkway Baptist Church, Goodlettsville with Rev. Ken Castleberry officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00PM at the funeral home at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery.
