Hilda Jean Goad's Obituary
Hilda Jean Goad of Madison, TN passed away on August 11, 2025 at the age of 98 at Hickory Gardens, her home for the past 4 years. Her favorite color was red, which she wore almost every day for the last few years, with her nails painted only that color.
Born in Lafayette, TN on June 20, 1927 to Foust & Laura Fuqua, she became a strong and independent woman who battled dementia the last 5 years of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, W.L. Goad and three brothers, Larry, Leon and Wayne Fuqua. Survived by a son, Larry O. Goad (Chris) of Madison, TN, a granddaughter, Lauren Clifton (B.J.) of Hendersonville, two great-grandchildren, Riley Clifton and Camryn Clifton, a step-granddaughter, Kellie Mahoney of Nashville, and a sister, JoAnn Derring of Lafayette, TN.
Hilda loved flowers and plants, and reading Danielle Steele novels. But her biggest passion was her family, neighbors and friends. She had a strong work ethic and retired from Dupont and then the State of Tennessee Audit Dept.
