Homer & Deborah Keen Sr.'s Obituary
Homer William Keen, Sr., passed away May 23, 2024, peacefully to be reunited with his loving wife, Deborah who passed away suddenly just 4 days prior on May19, 2024. Homer was born March 24, 1957, in Nashville, TN, to Homer and Mattie Lou Keen. Deborah was born October 15, 1957, in Nashville, TN, to Clarence and Beatice Neely, Jr.
Their union began when they were next door neighbors living in Nashville and blossomed into a wonderful friendship and eventual marriage. They were united on Valentines Day, February 14, 1977. They were blessed with a son, Homer, Jr a few years later. Their family resided in the north Nashville and Madison area for the next 40 years.
In his youth, Homer loved playing softball and was adept at slow pitching. The family had their own team and would compete locally with successes winning first place in the Madison league. He found great satisfaction in his career driving trucks for McKesson. But when it was time to relax, he cheered on Alabama’s football team. He was an avid fan and loved watching the games in person or lounging in his favorite recliner.
He was a great big brother, husband, and father. He was a great provider, and a wonderful, loving father. You always could count on his unwavering support. He would selflessly help anyone he could.
Deborah was a fantastic cook all her life. She began honing her culinary skills growing up and helping her mother but continued as a cook for Madison Family Restuarant and Jay’s Family Restaurant. She was a wonderful wife and mother who always put her family first. She loved holidays and the decorations that adorned her home would change with each occasion.
Those left behind to cherish their memories are son, Homer Keen, Jr., Homer Sr.’s siblings, Tim Keen, Richard Keen, Margie, and Teresa, Deborah’s siblings, Melissa Brown, Randy Neely.
