Hoy Chieng's Obituary
Hoy Chieng, 88, of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. She was born on May 18, 1934 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
If you knew Mrs. Chieng, or better known as Yay, you’d know she was like a storm everywhere she went. She was very head strong and persistent. She never stood still, and she was very quick to discuss everything with you. Despite all her memory issues, she never stopped telling her family how proud she was of them.
Along with being caring, Yay was also fun and silly. At times she would be antagonized by the boys with fists up and hop around ready to box her. She would sharpen her hands in a classic karate pose back ready to stand her ground with a smile. She was always a good sport. Yay loved the boys in the family. That love wasn’t limited to humans! She would feed Peanut food by sneakily dropping it on the floor when she thought no one was looking.
Yay was a very strong woman. She battled illness for a long time, hiding the pain that it caused her. Her physical body was tired and on Friday, January 27th she woke up in Heaven seeing Jesus, no longer being tired.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 11th from 10:30am until 1:00 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The committal will immediately follow the services at Spring Hill Cemetery.
