Hugh Moore Travis, Jr.'s Obituary
TRAVIS JR., Hugh Moore- Age 80 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away August 11, 2011. He was born in Nunley, TN on May 7, 1931, son of Hugh and Roberta Travis. He is survived by his children Hugh M. Travis III (Diana), Philip T. Travis (Karen), and Terri Sturdivant (Wayne). He is also survived by six grandchildren Brittany Webb (Jeff), Philip, Wesley (Shannon), and Ryan Travis, Justin and Eric Sturdivant and a great grandchild Cayden Travis. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Beatrice Anderson (George) of Foley, Alabama, and sister-in-law Jean Travis of Nashville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Margaret Travis. He served his country as a Recruit Chief and Seaman, US Navy. He was employed at DuPont; Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an agent for 15 years; 3M Sales Director 23 years; and, President BG Chemicals, Inc. He was an active member of Inglewood United Methodist Church serving in various capacities; a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; and, avid supporter of Goodpasture Christian School athletics. He was Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster and Executive Board Member of the Middle Tennessee Council Boy Scouts of America. The family will receive friends on Friday September 2nd from 4-7PM and Saturday September 3rd from 9-10AM with funeral services commencing at 10:00AM with Dr. Russ Corley officiating. All activities will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Madison, TN. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Interment immediately following at Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Middle Tennessee Council Boy Scouts of America, 3414 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215 or Goodpasture Christian School, 619 Due West Avenue, Madison, TN 37115.
