Mrs. Huldah Shaff “Cotten” Gentry, age 90, of Madison, Tennessee passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020. She was born on January 15, 1930 in Nashville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Bertha Shaff, siblings, twin/Howard Shaff, Helen Joslin, and Jean Keel. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Cotten whom she was married to for fifty-one years and most recently her companion Harvey Carr. She is survived by her sister, Hester Morgan (Jim), nieces and nephews, daughter Tammy Carpenter, son-in-law Bobby Carpenter, grandson Brett Carpenter, granddaughter Dana Wallace (Kevin) and great-grandchildren Carter and Haylee Wallace.
Huldah was a 1948 graduate of East High School. She retired from Tenneco Oil as a bookkeeper in 1988. She then went on to become a secretary for Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Huldah was an energetic, loving person that never was without a smile and a kind word. She would light up a room and could always make you feel special. Her greatest joy was her daughter and family. She also enjoyed dancing, shopping on Saturdays, and living life to the fullest. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother.
Graveside Services for Huldah will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 10 AM at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. Directions to the graveside will be available in the cemetery office.
