Mrs. Imelda Marie (Wehby) Todd's Obituary
Imelda Marie Wehby Todd passed away peacefully on July 3, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Nashville, TN, on October 7, 1926, she is the daughter of the late Solomon and Nellie Wehby, who immigrated to this country from Zahle, Lebanon (then Syria.)
Imelda was Salutatorian of the Class of 1944 at St. Cecilia Academy. She worked at National Life for nearly 10 years before her marriage to Elmer ("Buddy") Todd in 1955. She was an active and devoted founding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and served for years as a member of the Ladies of Charity. She also served as a volunteer at Nashville Memorial Hospital. More than anything else, though, Imelda was a devoted and loving mother to her seven children. She was a model of her Catholic faith, and never tired of caring for her family. She was known far and wide for her cooking of Lebanese recipes, learned at the foot of her mother.
Imelda's life-long focus, her faith and her family, were in evidence for decades every Sunday morning, as the ever-growing family gathered in her kitchen after church for homemade biscuits and breakfast. A house teeming with children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren from all around the area continued as a family tradition all the way until her passing. Her family will forever miss her inimitable lamb biscuits, flour-covered hugs, and her beautiful smile that lit up the room.
Her family will be forever grateful to her caregivers, whose help allowed her to remain in her home in her last years, and to the staff of Alive Hospice, who ensured her gentle and peaceful passing.
Imelda is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Elmer H. Todd Jr., her brothers Andrew and Alfred Wehby, her sister Edna Sanders, and her grandson, Benjamin David Todd. She is survived by her seven children: Edward (Debbie); John; Andrew (Tanya); Mary Ann Shanks; Daniel (Julie); Robert; and Richard (Teresa); 9 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren; her sister Evelyn Kempf, and brothers Charles and Vincent Wehby. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 6, from 4 to 8PM, with Rosary at 6pm at Spring Hill Cemetery. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday, July 7, at 10AM with interment following at Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Alive Hospice.
