Ivone Fleming's Obituary
Ivone (Merny) Fleming, 96, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024.
She was a seamstress at heart making dozens of beautiful quilts, pillows and clothes. Ivone’s passion for gardening showed in every flower in her yard or in a vase on her kitchen table. She enjoyed bird watching with a real love for hummingbirds & blue birds. Ivone also enjoyed camping, pets, especially cats, horseback riding, nature activities and antiques. She was an avid reader, reading hundreds of books throughout her lifetime. She was a fabulous cook who frequently got calls for her secret recipes. She loved life so much, but I am certain that if you asked Ivone what she loved most she would have said her family. Ivone was, as many called her, "sweet"; always willing to help others less fortunate. She was a devout Christian and longtime member of Madison Church of Christ. She later attended Laurel Church of Christ when she moved to Knoxville, Tennessee.
Ivone was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Fleming Jr., two sisters, Ronelda Allen and Delphia Pelayo, three brothers, J.R. Elam, Carl Dean Elam, and Ernest Elam, two daughters-in-law, Robyn Fleming and Brenda Fleming, a son-in-law, David Sigman and parents, Samuel Elam and Katie Elam.
She is survived by her two sisters, Norma Bass of Nashville and Dot Roehrich of Scottsville, Ky and brother-in-law, Dan Allen of Old Hickory. Three children, Sam Fleming, Kathy Fleming, Wayne Fleming, four grandchildren, Shane (Anjie) Fleming, Kimberly Sorey, Jennifer Vogel, and Michael Fleming, 9 great-grandchildren,10 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous extended relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Madison Church of Christ, Madison, TN or Laurel Church of Christ, Knoxville, TN.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to visit on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from nine o’clock in the morning until the time of the funeral service at ten o’clock in the morning at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville.
