James Booher's Obituary
James (Jim) Booher, 67, of Indianapolis died unexpectedly May 30, 2026.
Jim was born on October 26, 1958, to Richard Nolan Booher and Linda Mae (Gustin) Booher in Muncie, Indiana. He graduated from Southport High School in 1977 where he was an outstanding member of the cross country and track teams. Jim fondly remembered his contribution as the 5th-man of the legendary 1976 Indiana state champion cross country team (the Hathaway Harriers) and the life-long friendship of his teammates.
Jim attended Ball State University and worked at GWWS Supplies in Indianapolis for 20+ years. He then switched to a 12-year career as an over the road truck driver, driving throughout the Midwest primarily for Swift Transportation. In 2025, Jim reached the milestone of a 1-million-mile driver for Swift.
In his free time, Jim was an avid Colts, college football, and Indy-car racing fan and he took great joy attending our family’s annual summer reunion for entertaining conversations and competitive croquet games.
Jim is survived by his son, Travis Booher, mother, Linda Booher (Seymour, IN), brothers, Robert (Bob) Booher (Davis, CA) and Mark Booher (Seymour, IN), sister, Nicole Booher Mendanha Cruzinha (Lisbon, Portugal), and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
Jim is preceded in death by his father Richard Booher and son Dustin Booher.
Jim was supportive of Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis. In honoring his wishes, there will be no formal service. Please celebrate his memory in your own way.
