Mr. James B. Cantrell Jr's Obituary
James Benford Cantrell, Jr, age 81, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019. He was born on July 2, 1937 in Nashville to the late James “J.B.” Cantrell, Sr and Evelyn Fitzgerald.
Very few people knew him as ‘James’. He was known to family and friends as ‘Jim’, ‘Sonny’, or ‘Shag’. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a member of Post 88 American Legion in Donelson. Jim was a longtime employee for Metro Nashville working as a warrant officer and codes enforcer.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Peggy Cantrell; son David Ray Cantrell; sisters Wanda Kay Vanderpool and Shirley Jean Crocker.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kathy Cantrell; daughters Jessica Kelley, Tisha (Brett) Keck, and Brandy (Robert) Radford; nephews Terry (Jessie) Vanderpool, Mike (Donna) Crocker, Bubba (Leslie) Crocker, Roger (Sharon) Crocker, and Gene Crocker; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 12, at 1 PM at the funeral home with the family receiving friends and visitors 2 hours prior to the service. Burial and military honors will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
