Mr. James Columbus Estes' Obituary
James “Jimmy” Columbus Estes, age 66, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Jimmy was born on June 17, 1953 in Rockwood, Tennessee to the late James Clifford Estes and Alma Ruth Wyatt Estes.
Jimmy was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend. He was proud to be from East Nashville and was a member of the last graduating class of Isaac Litton High School in 1971. He was retired from Tennessee Car and Van Rental after 35 years of service. Jimmy was an avid golfer and leaves behind good friends at Old Hickory Country Club, Foxland Harbor Country Club and Ravenwood Country Club. He was also lifelong fan of Vanderbilt Athletics.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vicki Carter Estes; children James “Jack” Christopher (Jenna) Estes, Amy Marie Estes, and Steven Blake (Ashley) Estes; sisters Eleanor Drennon and Sue Mastin; grandchildren James Carter and Elsie Marie; and dear friend Steve Dickerson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jimmy’s name to Donelson Heights United Methodist Church, 84 Fairway Drive, Nashville, TN 37214.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 5, from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place Friday, September 6, at 11 AM at Donelson Heights United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends and visitors at the church 2 hours prior to services on Friday. Burial will follow at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
Pall Bearers for the service will be Alex Gordon, Ricky Gunter, Howell Flatt, Phil Sweeney, Jim Wade, Bill Bevans, Chuck Whitaker, Robert Carter.
Honorary Pall Bearers are Rick Mastin, Tony Drennon, Richard Pearson, Kenneth Morrow.
